Biography

Cyril Sunday Ume (PhD) is a Chemical Engineer. He has both B.Eng and M.Eng degrees in Chemical Engineering from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). He obtained a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey which was sponsored by Nigeria Federal Government and Turkish Government under Bilateral Educational Agreement scholarship. He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a registered member of the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and a Senior Member of Institute of Research Engineers and Doctors, USA.
Engr. Dr. C. S. Ume was a Researcher Assistant (2009-2012) in Chemical Engineering Department, Hacettepe University, Turkey. His major research areas include Chemical Reaction Kinetics, Water Treatment, Materials Synthesis, Separation Processes and Carbon Capture. He has also won research grants and he is currently researching on “Suitability Assessment of Tiger-nut Oil for Production of Brake Fluids” sponsored by Raw Material Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Abuja, Nigeria.
He joined Alex Ekweme Federal University, Ndufu Alike (AE-FUNAI), Nigeria in 2012 and was the pioneer HoD, Chemical and Petroleum Engineering (2015–2018) and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (2018–2020).
